Immeasurably more

‘Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.’ (Ephesians 3:20-21)

A wise man once told me, ‘There are two things you need to know about God: he’s really big and he’s really kind.’ We can see the truth in that in how God has recently provided for us and our partners. Even in situations which have left us worried and frustrated, God has shown how big and kind he is. He can do ‘immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine’. Children supported by Wukwashi now have access to prosthetic limbs, after over a year of waiting. Zambia had ‘run out of’ the material resources needed to make prosthetic devices, with 19 children supported by Wukwashi needing these devices in order to fully participate in family and community life. Some had withdrawn from school as a consequence.

But God intervened in a completely unexpected way when Susie, our Director, mentioned the situation to Becky Wright, one of Wukwashi’s founders. Following this conversation, Becky introduced Susie to Sandra Sexton of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics, and to Olivia Giles of 500 Miles. Sandra put BCT directly in touch with someone who works in prosthetics and orthotics at a national level in Zambia, who has subsequently made sure Wukwashi’s children could be assessed and helped. And 500 Miles are going to provide funds to ensure prosthetic devices will be available to all the children waiting for them. Not only that, but 500 Miles are also going to support Wukwashi and the children in this for the long-term! They have even asked Wukwashi to refer other children and adults in the Copperbelt area who require these services, so that even more people can be helped! Truly, God can do immeasurably more than we can imagine. The proof is right here!

VINODI stands strong

After a ten-year partnership with BCT, VINODI, our friends in Togo, have taken the decision to become independent.

Brother Eklou-Ali tells us that VINODI have built up a strong volunteer base and can now count on financial support from the local church, so no longer need BCT’s funding. He is hugely appreciative of all we have achieved together and of the support and advice BCT has given over the years.

We are sad to part company with VINODI, because they are good friends and because God has done so much through our partnership. But we are delighted that the project is now strong and sustainable enough to run purely with the support of the local church, and we know God will continue to bless VINODI and transform young lives through them. We will continue to invest in our other partners, to empower them to change more lives, too.
