This month we're learning about...
Kenny, who is getting better looked after now

Kenny and mum at her market stall

Kenny's mum is so thankful for the support that Vinodi give to her son: "Without their help Kenny would suffer a lot," she says.

When Kenny's dad died and his mum married again, his step-father wasn't interested in loving and caring for a boy who wasn't his own son.
Kenny's mum and stepdad quarrelled about this a lot. The atmosphere made Kenny feel unwanted and unhappy at home and he wasn't getting looked after properly.

For the past four years Vinodi have helped Kenny as part of their programme which supports children who otherwise might not be able to go to school, have enough food, or get medicines when they are ill.

Kenny's step-dad doesn't have a job, so it's up to his mum to try and provide for Kenny and his three step-brothers and sisters. This used to be hard, but she's now getting help from Vinodi too - she has received a small loan and some training and she now runs a market stall. (You can see Kenny and his mum at the stall in the picture.)
Her business is going really well, and with the money she earns she can pay for Kenny's clothes, school books and make sure he has enough nutritious food. It's such a good feeling for a mum to be able to provide the things that her child needs, and not always have to rely on other people.

So both Kenny and his mum are much happier now.
