World Weekend of Prayer

The 2019 World Weekend of Prayer for Children at Risk is coming on 1-2 June, with the theme ‘Filled with hope’.

Our friends at Viva are asking individuals, families, small groups, Sunday schools and churches around the world to devote a weekend to praying for children at risk.

‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ (Romans 15:13)

The world is dark. Children face pain, neglect and abuse. Hopelessness saturates families, communities, cities and entire nations.

As followers of Christ, though, we should be filled with his hope.

A hope that brings strength.

A hope in his wonders and miracles.

A hope that will not be cut off.

A hope that anchors us

A hope in his name.

As we join together for the 2019 World Weekend of Prayer, let us ‘be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer’ – believing we will see a positive change for children where we live and around the globe.

And that many more people might be filled with hope.
