Dorcas Rono

Dorcas was born and raised in Kenya in a Christian home. Her journey of faith began as a young girl at an after-school Bible club where she passionately remembers sharing the gospel of Christ to her schoolmates. Her commitment to Christ later led her to serve at a local church, where she met her husband, George, a missionary.

Inspired by his calling and her love for God, Dorcas accepted an invitation with an international organisation to serve in Haiti as a missionary. She resigned from her banking job and together with her husband and their seven-month-old baby went to Haiti. While there she was exposed to a cross-cultural setup with different communities, primarily through the partner churches, focusing on community development, training churches, working with vulnerable children. She also worked in finance and administration.

After their time in Haiti, they returned to Kenya where Dorcas co-founded a foundation a ministry working in the slums of Nairobi that became particularly relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this foundation, she worked with vulnerable children, women and families.

In her current role with BCT, Dorcas desires to be Jesus’s hands and feet and for God to use her small steps to make a huge and lasting transformation to marginalised children across the globe.

She currently resides in England with her husband George and their children, Israel and Isaiah.
